About Grace 0.1

About Grace & Such

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
~ Ephesians 4:3

In today’s political and cultural climate, with the overwhelming amount of social media, we are an unwilling audience to the hatred among Christians, among fellow believers. God’s grace abounds, yet so many show so little of it toward others. Grace & Such was started as a way to show healthy and gracious conversation, even when we are in disagreement. Our blog includes posts written by a diverse team of women whose only objectives are to share their grace journeys and show what grace-in-action really looks like to the community of believers who, at times, seems to have forgotten how.

Who We Are

As our tagline says, we are a bunch of women writing about grace. And such.

We are a diverse group of women, ranging in age from 20 to 60-something.

Some of us are married; some are divorced; some are single.

Some of us have children; some have grandchildren; some have neither.

Some of us are conservative; some are liberal; some are somewhere in between.

We don’t agree on everything and that’s okay. But here’s what we do agree on:

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God
  • We believe in one God in three distinct, equal persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • The Father is the creator of all
  • The Son (Jesus Christ) is our salvation and the only way to the Father
  • The Holy Spirit indwells followers of Jesus and is the source through which we are able to live godly lives

Our desire is to encourage other women as we share our thoughts and experiences as well as Biblical truths.

Grace at the Farm

By Courtney K. Steed | September 21, 2015 | 12 Comments

This week I had the honor of joining a sweet friend for a tour of her new farm, recently purchased and moved into. She is a new friend of mine, we have just met and gotten to know each other in the last few weeks. When I met her, one of the first things she shared with me was that she and her family were in the process of purchasing a new home. She even sent a picture and a link to the place so I could see what all her excitement was about. When I saw the pictures I immediately understood. It was an old farm, built in the 1940’s. The property came with an old farmhouse with several add-ons, like they liked to do back in the day. It came with several outbuildings, a pond (with a row boat), an old smokehouse, fruit trees, an old tractor, and…

Wonderful, Fantastic Grace

By Katie Thompson | September 18, 2015 | 11 Comments

Grace. Such a tiny word that has tremendous meaning. There are so many things grace can mean. For example, it could mean that six-month period the loan companies give you after you graduate college (yeah… not really looking forward to that in two years). It could mean that extra ten minutes your kind professor gives you to run to the nearest printer for that 15-page paper you cried, bled, and sweat over without counting it as late. It could also mean an extension on a deadline. The one you had known about for weeks because the head-honcho-lady kept sending you emails about it, (no, I am not talking about my mother!) but not getting labeled as an “incompliant” chapter. So what, you might ask yourself, do all of these examples have in common (besides them all happening to me either now or later)? They show favors I’ve been given but…

Grace and Spilt Milk

By Amber Lappin | September 16, 2015 | 27 Comments

The other day, I was sitting at a restaurant with a friend of mine and her husband. The waiter had just set our drinks in front of us and I opened my menu to try to decide what to eat. I was having a hard time choosing, even though I knew everyone was waiting for me. It was 7pm, and I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, making me decidedly tired and hungry. My friend warned me that I was about to hit my glass with my menu and as I was gesturing to her that I was totally fine, I accidentally knocked my super-full, super cold, super-large glass of milk across the table. “I TOLD YOU TO BE MORE CAREFUL!” said my friend, “Why won’t you listen? You’re worse than a baby!” “That is IT!” said her husband, “We warned you that was going to happen. We can’t take you anywhere.…
