Nerf War
Have you ever read a text or email and you couldn’t figure out the sender’s tone? Was the person joking or being very mean? This week I received one such message.
Since then, I’ve been trying to decide whether to reply or not. My gut (Is that you, Holy Spirit?) says, “Don’t even think about it.” Another part of me really wants to have the last word.
Though I believe the person did intend to hurt my feelings, their snarky remark failed to pierce me. Instead, it bounced off like a Nerf dart. Right after my gut (Is that you, Holy Spirit?) reminded me:
Hurt people hurt people.
As I thought about the situation this morning, a scripture came to mind.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but
against the rulers, against the authorities, against
the powers of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Thanks, Holy Spirit!

Always a gentle reminder right in the gut!! Love that we’ve got that radar in us!!
I think we open ourselves up to all kinds of scrutiny, judgment, and jealousy, not to mention ratings, when we writers publish anything. It’s when we didn’t see it coming, get caught off-guard and wonder, “what am I supposed to do?”
Your scripture is on point, so beneficial to remind us of who and what we are wrestling with.
It was so great being with you in Scotland, sharing and hiking and retreating to our heart’s content. Now that we are back on familiar territory, I pray we forge ahead with the uplifting messages we all received from God and one another. Press on!
Mercy! What a good word and visual to go with it. I will not be pierced. Thank you.
