About Grace 0.1

About Grace & Such

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
~ Ephesians 4:3

In today’s political and cultural climate, with the overwhelming amount of social media, we are an unwilling audience to the hatred among Christians, among fellow believers. God’s grace abounds, yet so many show so little of it toward others. Grace & Such was started as a way to show healthy and gracious conversation, even when we are in disagreement. Our blog includes posts written by a diverse team of women whose only objectives are to share their grace journeys and show what grace-in-action really looks like to the community of believers who, at times, seems to have forgotten how.

Who We Are

As our tagline says, we are a bunch of women writing about grace. And such.

We are a diverse group of women, ranging in age from 20 to 60-something.

Some of us are married; some are divorced; some are single.

Some of us have children; some have grandchildren; some have neither.

Some of us are conservative; some are liberal; some are somewhere in between.

We don’t agree on everything and that’s okay. But here’s what we do agree on:

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God
  • We believe in one God in three distinct, equal persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • The Father is the creator of all
  • The Son (Jesus Christ) is our salvation and the only way to the Father
  • The Holy Spirit indwells followers of Jesus and is the source through which we are able to live godly lives

Our desire is to encourage other women as we share our thoughts and experiences as well as Biblical truths.

Thankfulness: A Lament

By Rebecca Montie Preston | November 20, 2015

It’s that time of year. Orange takes over, and people are delighting in pumpkin. The nights are coming sooner; the days are cooler. Harvest is the result of a fruitful summer, and people are looking forward to the twin holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Autumn is a melancholy time for me. I dread the short days with the darkness descending too soon. I miss the fresh fruits of my garden; the sweet morning sounds of the birds; flip-flops. And I…

Meditation: A Practice of Thankfulness

By Courtney K. Steed | November 18, 2015

Meditation has been considered one of the spiritual disciplines for as long as there was such a thing. David, the Psalmist and a man after God’s own heart, practiced this discipline regularly, as did many of his fellow Psalmists. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. ~ Psalms 19:14 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I…

A Thankful Heart

By Denise Frank | November 16, 2015

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.  Of His own will He brought us forth by the Word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. ~ James 1:17-18 How easy is it to get caught up in the glitz and glam when life begins coming together and things are on the upswing? …

What About You?

By Katie Thompson | November 13, 2015

Every Thanksgiving during dinner, which usually turns into a late lunch, my mom makes us all go around the table and say what we’re thankful for. When I was younger it use to be simple or silly things like “I’m thankful for my toys” or “I’m thankful for my friends.” Both of which are true, but since I was about 8 or so, I didn’t think that diving deeper into what I was thankful for was necessary. Now that I’m…
