About Grace 0.1

About Grace & Such

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
~ Ephesians 4:3

In today’s political and cultural climate, with the overwhelming amount of social media, we are an unwilling audience to the hatred among Christians, among fellow believers. God’s grace abounds, yet so many show so little of it toward others. Grace & Such was started as a way to show healthy and gracious conversation, even when we are in disagreement. Our blog includes posts written by a diverse team of women whose only objectives are to share their grace journeys and show what grace-in-action really looks like to the community of believers who, at times, seems to have forgotten how.

Who We Are

As our tagline says, we are a bunch of women writing about grace. And such.

We are a diverse group of women, ranging in age from 20 to 60-something.

Some of us are married; some are divorced; some are single.

Some of us have children; some have grandchildren; some have neither.

Some of us are conservative; some are liberal; some are somewhere in between.

We don’t agree on everything and that’s okay. But here’s what we do agree on:

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God
  • We believe in one God in three distinct, equal persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  • The Father is the creator of all
  • The Son (Jesus Christ) is our salvation and the only way to the Father
  • The Holy Spirit indwells followers of Jesus and is the source through which we are able to live godly lives

Our desire is to encourage other women as we share our thoughts and experiences as well as Biblical truths.

Changing This Girl’s American Dream

By Gretchen Hanna | October 19, 2015

Turn and face the strange Ch-ch-changes. ~ David Bowie “Changes” Ever since I became a practicing disciple of Jesus, going on about 15 years now, I have been struck by how non-intuitive Jesus is for me, a middle-aged woman, who is a product of American culture and mores, including The American Dream. Gratefully, the more I get to know Jesus, the more things tend to make sense from His vantage-point, and the more comfortable I grow with trusting Him with…

A Journal: A Record of Change

By Courtney K. Steed | October 16, 2015

I have always written in journals. It was where my love for writing and expression began, way back when I was a young teen. I started writing my thoughts when they were a jumbled mess of hyper-emotions and irrational fears, idealistic dreams and unrealistic fantasies. I love reading back on those first few books, and all of them since then. Journaling remained a habit throughout my teenage, college and young married years. I recorded my college years, my boyfriend…

Well, Should I Change?

By April Jean | October 14, 2015

Date night with my man, a.k.a my favorite night of the week! I’m in gym shorts and sneakers because we like to hike. Yes, also because they are super comfortable. But tonight, we decide to go grab some grub for dinner. Remember, I am still rocking gym shorts. I think to myself, “I have to change right? Don’t I need to dress up for my husband? Won’t that make him proud of me? Maybe even ensure that he continues to…

Finding the Serenity in Change

By Sis Steele | October 12, 2015

“To everything there is a season.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) What season is it for me?  It’s change the mantel decor time. My home décor changes like clockwork. The beach pictures, antique sand pail, lightweight throws, and patio décor all go back into storage. I pull out the vintage quilts, autumn tree paintings, and little faux pumpkins. Some people can leave their home furnishings the same all year. But not me, I fiddle, rearrange, spruce up, declutter.  I embrace change. STOP! REWIND!…
